The Churning

We, in Uma Arts & Nathiba Commerce Mahila College, Gandhinagar, always attempt to attain higher standards of quality in all the activities of our college. As a result, the Education Department of Government of Gujarat congratulated and appreciated our college for Excellence in National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for betterment of Education, Society and Nation in the category of Grant-in-Aid college (Non-Technical) at Grand Education Fair – 2018 on 2nd Feb., 2018. Sri Vijaybhai Rupani, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, awarded the college with a certificate and Sri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, the Education Minister of Gujarat, awarded the college with the trophy on that occasion.

Looking at the present scenario of higher education, one feels, it is of immense importance to make genuine efforts for quality research not only in the areas of subjects taught but also in the new areas of interest emerging at multidisciplinary levels in any higher education institution of our country. Hence, we in our Uma Arts and Nathiba Commerce Mahila College, Gandhinagar, managed by Ninety-nine-Year old Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal, Kadi, decided to publish an Inter-Disciplinary National Peer and Double Reviewed e-journal of Languages, Social Sciences and Commerce, entitled ‘The Churning’.

With the support of the UGC (CPE) grant and encouragement of our philanthropic management and sincere attempts of the members of the Research Committee and other faculties of our college, we find ourselves privileged to put in the hands of our readers the second issue of ‘The Churning’. It contains ten research papers in the areas of English, Sanskrit, Commerce, Environment, Literary studies, Economics, Geography, Psychology and two book reviews. We are always concerned how quality can always be encouraged in higher education to tackle the growing challenges of the globalization and nativism. We hope, the papers published here will be helpful in throwing light on the issues related to such challenges.

We are grateful to Shri Vallabhbhai M. Patel, Chairman, Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal and President, Kadi Sarva Vishwa Vidyalaya, for providing all requisite support in all the activities of our college, including the publication of the present journal.

We acknowledge the dexterous endeavors of Dr. Pranav Joshipura, Editor of the journal, in getting all the research papers reviewed and also in editing them in proper fashion.
