Our Vision, Mission & Values

Faculty Profile

From the Principal’s Desk :

I welcome you on behalf of the staff as well as the members of the Management to Uma Arts & Nathiba Commerce Mahila College, Gandhinagar, affiliated to Gujarat University Ahemedabad. The aim of education, as it has been accepted by all of us today, is not to enable the individual to get employment only, but to impart values, to help the student to grow by bringing out its own inner potentialities and capacities.

The vision of our college is “to attain social upliftment by empowering women through value-based education”. The number of students coming from urban areas of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad remains equal to the number of students coming from the nearby villages like Rupal, Pethapur, Halisa, Dehgam as well as far off places like Bayad, Himatnagar, Surendranagar, Viramgam, Dhangadhra etc. Many students coming from far off places take advantage of the girls’ hostel situated in the campus itself. A host of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are held in the college all through the year, in order to help the students in the all around development of their personalities.

In all our endeavours, we have been attempting to fulfill the vision of NAAC which is “To make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives”.

Our college has been accredited by NAAC with B++ grade in 2006 and with A grade in 2011. Post-accreditation reform processes have been significant to us due to the collaborative efforts of the leadership of the Management, well designed and implemented action plan of the IQAC and the team work of our faculties, administrative staff, students and alumni of our college.

All our professors are always alert to keep themselves academically well equipped. They have been participating and presenting research papers in varied workshops, seminars, conferences and conventions held at regional, national and international level and get them published in indexed journals. The college also publishes its own double-reviewed indexed e-journal ‘The Churning’ to sustain the tradition of research. Moreover, two faculties of the college have successfully completed research projects from two different external agencies.

We have been getting financial and moral support from our Management in our efforts. In fact, our Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal, Gandhinagar has always been taking higher leaps of progress in the field of education. In order to enable students to get education from K.G. to Ph.D., under one and the same umbrella, different educational institutions have been established by our Mandal and its latest step is the establishment of its University, entitled : Kadi Sarva Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gandhinagar and Kadi.

In fact, parents of our students too encourage us to progress more and more by their moral support. We have been attempting to evaluate our administrative efficiency through our Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
